A vase of slender shape, decorated with spatial relief. The base material here is copper alloy and the decoration is engraved, chiselled and inlaid in relief. Gilding, silvering and patination were also applied. This combination of concave and convex techniques is used to obtain the spatiality of the motif of the bird(s) sitting on a branch. Branches and pine trunk marked with engraving and inlay. Pine needles engraved and inlaid with silver. At the bottom of the vase, near the stand, there are peony flowers depicted in relief. A bird made in relief, in copper, gilded. The whole is presented statically, with great attention to decorative detail. The object presents the Japanese art of observing nature and capturing an impermanent moment in a durable material.
