Console clock

A console clock in a cabinet, formerly in a wooden case, marquetry in the early 20th century replaced with its tin copy, patinated, double glazed (front and back), supported on four legs. The cabinet with boxed top is decorated with full-plastic gilt bronzes. On the box top there is a cupid sitting on a rock, holding a bow ready to shoot; in the upper corners there are two goat heads symbolising vitality. The door case is decorated with a half-lying figure of the Morning Star, with a star above her forehead. It is an announcement of the coming day, the beginning of new possibilities. The corners of the base serving as feet are decorated with bodies of putti with plumes on their heads.

The clock is fitted with a spring-driven mechanism with spindle escapement, a short pendulum of light type on a threaded pendant. Three separate drives for the clockwork, the half-hour and hour strike, and the quarter-hour strike. Two ratchet wheels of Parisian type; for the striking of the quarters of an hour, the half hours and hours. The striking of half hours and hours on one bell, the striking of quarters of an hour by two hammers on two bells. Pinwheel strike regulator. Clock with minute and hour hands. The dial is round, brass with enamel plaques, on which the hours are marked in Roman numerals. The minutes are marked by Arabic numerals engraved on the edge of the dial. The hands are open-work, steel, blue. The clock was brought to Wilanów before 1853.
