Castle Museum in Łańcut
Part of the collection: Meble i wyposażenie wnętrz
A chest-like piece of furniture with small drawers used for storing valuables and documents. It is detachable from the table, and together with it, forms a complete unit in terms of shape and style. The Łańcut cabinet, exemplifying Italian Neo-Renaissance, is lavishly decorated and probably dates from the second half of the 19th century. It features a great variety of scenes carved in ivory. The top closure and the doors themselves are adorned with numerous details depicting angels playing violins, birds, forest animals, as well as vegetation and fruit. It also depicts a hunting scene and a pilgrim on his way to a holy place. The individual sections of the cabinet and the table drawer are covered with paper featuring a colourful pattern dominated by red. The sides of the cabinet have decorative, curved metal handles. The wood (i.e. woodwork) from which the furniture is made consists of birch and ebony. The height of the cabinet is 148.4 cm, its width is 94.5 cm, and its depth is 47.5 cm.
