Kerosene pendant lamp

Electrified pendant lamp converted from oil one, from the museum's collection. It dates from around 1880. The lamp consists of a container, a shade and a cast iron fitting. A semi-circular container made of white faïence painted with flowers and leaves in blue, green, burgundy, with a moulded metal end, which once housed a burner with a knob for the wick, and now contains a bulb in a metal holder. The bottom of the container ends in a metal cone. Bulb covered by semi-circular lampshade made of opaque glass with a metal rim, to which are attached three chains with decorative links, descending radially at the top to an openwork plate. Inside the plate a hook for hanging the lamp from the ceiling. The edge of the lampshade is base for curved, ornamental volutes (with chains attached to the top of the volutes to hang the lamp) which frame the lamp and enclose the faïence container on three sides. The lamp illuminates a room on the second floor of the castle.
