The tin cup was produced by F&M, a company founded in 1886 in Nuremberg by Simon Felsenstein and Sigmund Mainzer. At first, it was a small factory manufacturing tin wares, but in ca. 1900 it already had 30 employees. The company's growth was fostered by the ever-growing demand for commemorative tankards and goblets, which were made based on the company’s original designs and then resold to wholesalers. In 1904, Felsenstein&Mainzer expanded their operations to include the production of Norica Zinn tin tableware, including platters, plates, trays, bowls, clocks, candlesticks and cups, which were exported all over the world and enjoyed great popularity in the United States. On 20 October 1918, the company was bought out by Nuremberg-based Gebrüder Bing, which specialised in toys and metal products. The Felsenstein&Mainzer factory, as a subsidiary of Gebrüder Bing, continued to make its products well into the 1930s.
