The eastern tray

Part of the collection: Rzeźby
This alabaster vessel resting on a foot with a square base was richly decorated. The bell-shaped lid , with a small flower-shaped handle, is covered with fluting. On the slender bowl, we can see a garland of fruit and flowers hanging from the top between ornamental ram heads below handles. Below, it is encircled by a strip of pearls with a carved floral strand under it. The strand is separated from stylized leaves by a half round of laurel leaves. The bottom of the bowl is set in a basket of upturned acanthus leaves which connects it to a diagonally fluted circular foot.
The exhibited tureen comes from a set that can be seen every day in the Ladies' Bedroom.
