Part of the collection: Photographs from the collection of Halina Kamińska (Mamelok) née Baruch
A portrait photograph of Tadeusz Baruch, aged probably slightly over 40, taken in Warsaw. In this three-quarter take, Baruch has a short beard, he is wearing a dark jacket with rather broad tails, and a waistcoat; the corners of the collar of his white shirt are rounded.A photo on a branded cardboard support with a photo atelier's logo. The oval discolouration in the centre of the obverse suggests that the photo was once framed (perhaps by Halina née Baruch who held a portrait of her father in a frame?).The handwritten description of the photo on its back indicated Łódź and Pabianice: Baruch had been associated with these cities throughout his mature life (except for the time of his studies in Germany). The supposed period of taking the photo coincides with the completion of the building at the address written on it: at 211 Piotrkowska Street, an Art Nouveau tenement house designed by the famous architect Gustaw Landau-Gutenteger. Was it the Baruch family's address of residence, to which the company in Warsaw was to send the developed photo?
