Part of the collection: Clocks
Rectangular standing clock in empire style with a handle at the top. It is decorated with applied floral motifs and supported by four vase-shaped legs. The mechanism case is decorated with motifs of laurel garlands and rosettes, ending with a small handle in the shape of a snake (uroboros) with a tail in its mouth, which continually devours itself and is reborn from itself, which in ancient times symbolised the spiritual and physical unity of the universe, which never disappears and continues indefinitely in the form of constant destruction and rebirth. The large white clock face is made of porcelain with black Arabic numerals. The mechanism has a “Retard – Avant” system (the letters R and A), indicating the direction of adjustment. If the clock was fast, it had to be moved to the Retard side, and if it was late, then it was moved to the Avant side. In Łańcut it was used as a cabinet clock.
