Gong

Tin gong made of repoussé copper sheet. Front disc of the gong is decorated with a flying cranes motif, an imitation of Far Eastern wares. The disc is round with the edge folded at a right angle. The edge is narrow and smooth. There are two small holes in it - for hanging the gong. The disc is red with a decoration in the form of circular stripe - a meander pattern. Six cranes in flight in the central field. From the outside, on the folded edge, the decoration made with lac or plastic mass in red color. Pattern decorated with sprinkling technique, possibly with maki-e technique; gold dust in two shades – red kin – fun, greenish ao-kin-fun. Europe, dated to 18th - 19th century.
