Woman in a veil The marble bust of a veiled woman is a copy of the ancient Roman marble bust, housed in the collection of the Museo Nazionale in Naples. The original model for the Naples bust was a Greek sculpture from the 4th c. BCE. In the 18th and 19th c., this bust was one of the better-known antiques. The woman it depicts is sometimes called a Vestal. The woman's face is small; it has individualised features, a long and thick nose, almond-shaped eyes, and half-smiling lips. The woman's head is covered with a veil, which crosses itself under her chin and passes over her left shoulder; it is draped in rhythmic folds which emphasise its positioning. The author of the Łańcut bust is not known; it was most likely an Italian sculptor. The bust was created at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The Łańcut Museum acquired it for its collection in 1984. It has enriched the castle's numerous collection of modern copies of ancient sculptures that adorn its interior. Barbara Trojnar
