View of Łańcut Castle A painting executed in an interesting technique (“lean tempera”) from the collection of the Potocki family, who were the former owners of the Łańcut Castle; it presents a view of the castle (together with the Orangery) from the western side, from the perspective of an alley leading to the Gloriette. The southern side of the façade is visible with the clock tower, a fragment of the pavilion of the Grand Dining Room and an arcade passage connecting the castle with the orangery. The source of the light is probably the sun, not shown in the painting, casting its rays from the left side and illuminating the top part of the clock tower. The main alley, separating into two alleys (to the orangery and the tower) is leading to the castle (the main gate) shown in foreshortening. The alleys start at the remnants of a gate building and a neo-Gothic bridge, visible on the right hand side at the bottom of the painting. The buildings are in light beige colours muted with pink, the roofs of the castle and the orangery are pink and brick-red. The bushes, the trees and the grass in the park are in cold, bright green colour, while the parts where the shadows are cast are almost black. The alleys leading to the castle and the orangery are sand-coloured. At the top, there is blue sky with clouds, with a pink tinge over the roofs of the buildings. The painting by an unknown painter was dated at the second quarter of the 19th century and shows the castle in a neo-Gothic style, before the last major reconstruction. The painting in a simple frame can be seen in the Room Under the Views on the ground floor of the Łańcut Castle.
