Part of the collection: Outfit
The cover of the folded, pleated fan (never attached to the ribs of the frame) is made of white, kid leather decorated with gouache. The decoration consists of three tondos (the larger one in the centre) with views of the ruins of unidentified Roman buildings with a staffage. Tondos framed in narrow linear yellow and black frames, with yellow arabesque on a brown background in the corners. Between the tondos, two on top of each other, there are colourful grotesques on a cream-coloured background in black frames with vermilion decorations, separated by a white-lilac braid on a dark sapphire background. All compositions are framed in two narrow linear frames, in black and orange.
The described fan cover belongs to the collection of 16 fan covers purchased by the Museum-Zamek in Łańcut; 11 of them, including the ones described, form a cycle decorated with ruins of ancient buildings painted by the same painter.
