The gift from Przemysław Szpilman, the long-time director of the cemetery at Okopowa Street in Warsaw. For an analogous description of the object see MPOLIN-M803.

The plate comes from the rooms of the Preburial House at Flat 51, 49 Okopowa Street, destroyed during the Warsaw Uprising. On the eve of World War II it centrally housed a synagogue. A thorough renovation of the cemetery synagogue took place in 1902 thanks to donations from a prominent member of the Jewish community, Mikołaj Brauman. It was then that the temple was rededicated due to the far-reaching modernisation works. A plaque in honour of the donor was placed on one of the walls of the synagogue which reads: With his sacrifice, Mr. Mikolaj Brauman served not only the cemetery service and the local residents, for whom the synagogue is intended as a permanent place of prayer, but also the wider community. For some time now, the community board has introduced the holding of funeral services in the cemetery synagogue at the request of the families of the deceased.
