Casting spoon

Founding is a technological process involving the production of metal objects from solidifying alloys in casting moulds. The equipment of a foundry worker's workshop consists of a few utensils and tools. Lumps of metal, scrap metal, fragments of damaged or deformed objects in appropriate proportions were placed in a clay pot kept over a fire until the metal melted completely. The liquid metal was then transferred and poured into previously prepared moulds, where it remained until it completely cooled. The clay surfaces of the casting crucibles often became vitrified in the effect of prolonged and repeated exposure to high temperatures. In the early Middle Ages, it was mainly jewellery that was cast. It was possible to obtain many of the same objects from one mould, e.g. rings or buckles. Moulds - dies were made of clay and quickly worked rock, such as sandstone or soapstone with a high content of talc.
