Part of the collection: Photographs from the collection of Halina Kamińska (Mamelok) née Baruch
The photograph of Joseph Mamelok on a ferry in Switzerland, possibly Montreux. An arrow indicates his silhouette on the obverse, as in other group photographs from the archive featuring Mamelok. The correspondence side of the card bears three postmarks and a trace of a stamp. The sender of the letter - and possibly the author of the photograph - is Nina Alexandrovna Tamakova. She writes that better later than never and fulfils her promise to send a photograph: from the content of this difficult to read letter, and we can deduce that Tamakowa took a photograph of Mamelok, while he took a photograph of her (the latter - certainly in Montreux) - which she would like to have, so she gives her address. From the way the Muscovite addressed the letter to the Pyotr Governorate (from the phrase she used - it can be translated as: 'B.V.M.', however, it has specific applications in Russian), it appears that Józef Mamelok already held a high position in Zawiercie at that time, in the middle of 1914. The date of the letter's writing is noteworthy: 14 July 1914. Nina Alexandrovna Tamakova sent the photo, having remembered her promise, almost on the eve of the outbreak of the First World War (already after the assassination of Franz Ferdinand).
