Part of the collection: Outfit
The cover of the folded, pleated fan (never attached to the ribs of the frame) is made of white, kid leather decorated with gouache. The decoration is a night landscape with a staffage – the seashore with a lighthouse, boats sailing on the sea, and in the background an island with volcanoes (two of them are during an eruption). The central view is surrounded by two compositions with a view of the unidentified objects, captured from below and above by pink stripes with red braiding. From the top, a pink framing with flower buds and a meander on a brown background. At the bottom another one without a meander.
The described fan cover belongs to the collection of 16 fan covers purchased by the Museum-Zamek in Łańcut; 11 of them, including the ones described, form a cycle decorated with ruins of ancient buildings painted by the same painter.
