Service Vase
1801 — 1803
Castle Museum in Łańcut
Part of the collection: Ceramics
White porcelain vase made around the middle of the 19th c. It was created in 1763 after Frederick the Great took over Ernst Gotzkowsky's factory. Vase on a low foot, with an ovoid shape. Decorated with plastically modelled ribbons painted in grey-blue. They run vertically and are intersected by two low-hanging ribbons arranged in garlands, the tops of which are tied into two bows acting as handles. Above the garlands, both sides of the vase are decorated with colourful miniature paintings enclosed in a round medallion encircled in a kind of ribbon tied into a bow. One miniature shows a bunch of flowers, the other a park scene à la Watteau: a man with a guitar at the feed of a lady sitting on a wall.
