Panorama of Łańcut

Part of the collection: Postcards

Popularization note

Post card with its message on the reverse, addressed to count Alfred Potocki in Vienna; issued in ca. 1895 by the Łańcut publisher Konstanty Danielewicz. It depicts a fragment of the panorama of Łańcut with a view of the double-tower parish church and former Dominican monastery, at the base of which one finds the urban garden zone at the city walls. The photograph was taken by S. Better, and was made from the direction of the west of the city, the area of Nawsie, the centre of a local village named Przedmieście. In the foreground there is the brewery pond that takes its name from the nearby oldest industrial plant of Łańcut. Among the urban buildings, beside the mentioned church of St. Stanislaus the Bishop and Martyr, and the former monastery, at the time the seat of a military hospital, one sees some masonry buildings of the market square and some of wooden houses in the city gardens, surrounded by wooden fences.
