The beer bottle was found in the cellar of one of the townhouses on Panieńska Street in Szczecin. It was discovered during archaeological works carried out there in 1996, supervised by the Archaeological and Monument Conservation Laboratory in Szczecin. The artefact was made by Ferdinand Rückforth Nachfolger A.G., one of the most successful companies in pre-war Szczecin and the city’s first distillery, established in 1742. Over time, the brand has become synonymous with cognacs and liqueurs of the highest quality. It has evolved from a small family business into a behemoth that dominated the market of spirits, liqueurs, vodkas, wines and beer. In the 1930s, Ferdinand Rückforth Nachfolger A.G. managed dozens of breweries, as well as wine, vodka, yeast and food factories in Szczecin, as well as in other cities in West Pomerania and Brandenburg. During World War II, the buildings of the Ferdinand Rückforth Nachfolger A.G. were destroyed in Allied bombing raids. After the war, the company continued its operations in Germany.
