Match case The match case is part of a set of desk accessories, together with a pen tray (inventory number S. 812 MŁ), made circa 1925 in the English ceramics factory Crown Staffordshire Porcelain Co. Ltd. The case is rectangular, open at the top, with a slightly undulating edge, on an oval foot. On the yellow background, it is decorated with a black and gold Chinese landscape; on the front wall, it shows a Pagoda surrounded by flowers and on the back wall, birds wading in the water. Side walls with rectangular openings, edges of the case gilded. Inside, there is a small, rectangular support. The case is set on a rectangular yellow-painted base, with a yellow border strip and a stylised, golden plant motif. The desk accessory the case is a part of was purchased in the T. Goode & Co. department store in London, which specialises in the sale of ceramics, mainly English ceramics.
