Part of the collection: Vehicles and harnesses
Koczobryk (coach-carriage) is a travelling vehicle from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries from the collection of nearly 100 horse-drawn vehicles gathered by the museum in Łańcut and constantly enriched. It includes vehicles of different kind, from presentable to rustic, from 18th to 20th century. They come primarily from museum purchases; only a few were donated. Most of them have undergone general conservation or restoration, already when belonging to the museum’s collection. The koczobryk, which the museum bought in 1994, underwent general renovation in the Bogajewicz family carriage workshop in Pniewy. Koczobryk is a kind of an elegant, comfortable, luxurious and small travelling coach equipped with springs, with a folding hood. It has a wooden box body, with a two-seater main seat with full wooden upholstered sides and rear backrest with a leather folding hood on arches, and with an additional folding bench for one young person or child seating backwards, and with a two-person coachman seat in front. The body box is flat, with an apparent rise in the part of the coachman seat, with low walls at the main seat, slats applied on edges and vertical slats dividing the main seat, side walls and the coachman seat. The coachman seat is boxed, equipped with a flat mattress, it has lantern holders on both sides and (on the right) a crank for a hand crank-block brake. The front mudguard is straight, the side ones are bent, interrupted in the middle, connected by an iron step on an extension. Wooden and metal parts are lacquered. Koczobryk was designed for one horse with a shaft bow, which should be associated with Russia. A vehicle used for travelling, it was driven from the coachman seat by a coachman.
