Fan

Fan Tabletop fan from the collection of the Potoccy family, made of metal and brass, made in Paris between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. The fan is wound up using a key. It is made up of an upper part in the form of a fan, where the mechanism is found that rotates the wings. It is supported by a long, fluted trunk ending in a round, profiled base. The trunk expands slightly toward the top, becoming the fan, and at the bottom a profiled, round support. It is decorated with two rings on top of each other, above the upper ring there is a decoration of acanthus leaves covering the fan support. The front wall of the fan is richly decorated with a floral ornament – blossoming irises and heads of Zephyrs blowing the wind, at the very top four rotating wings are installed. The roof is a gable roof, at the top is a small screw that slows down and stops the mechanism moving the fan wings. On the back wall, there is an opening with a large key (to wind up the mechanism), with a decorative grip. The key and the wings are made of steel, just like the mechanism. On the back wall there is a five-pointed star and the inscription GOLD STAR, around the key there is the inscription The zephyr, patenten G & K, PARIS. Side walls are smooth, only decorated with a small floral ornament at the bottom. The fan can be seen on the desk in the Chamber of the Ordinary, on the ground floor of the castle.
