Part of the collection: Photography
The photograph comes from the album of the Lubomirski princes from Przeworsk. The photo shows a Soviet T-34 tank, which is watched by German soldiers (tankers?). Most likely, it was abandoned by its crew. The presented tank represented the first version of this type of tank. Over time, the tank was improved and received a larger turret and an 85 mm gun. The first works related to this machine were carried out in 1937. Formally, production began in 1940 and ended in 1957. During World War II, the T-34 tank was the basic model in the armoured forces of the USSR. The crew consisted of 4 men.
