A hanging salt cellar, from the museum’s collection, made of copper sheet, late 18th century. Body – cylindrical container, closed at the top with a hinged lid. At the bottom, the body passes through a slip into a circular base. On the back of the body a palmette-shaped mounting, with a hole for hanging on the wall. The body decorated with engraved volute, ferrule and plant ornament. Inside the body, there are traces of whitening or tinning. Whitening – tinning was necessary because of the harmful (poisonous) properties of pure copper. The salt cellar is exhibited in the Eastern Corridor of the second floor of the castle, where copper items are gathered.
