Chest of drawers
18th century, połowa XVIII wieku
Castle Museum in Łańcut
Part of the collection: Furniture and interior furnishings
Chest of drawers from the eighteenth century, dated between 1740 and 1760. It has straight sides and a wavy front with three drawers. The front console legs turn into a decoratively cut apron that obscures the clearance under the furniture. The marquetry veneer is made of different varieties of walnut and mahogany wood. The faces of the drawers, the sides and the top are decorated with marquetry in the form of a geometrical ribbon. The top is surrounded by a decorative quarter roll with steps. Between the drawers there are horizontal separating half-rollers. The drawers have bronze fittings decorated with rocailles. Each of them has two handles on the sides and a decorative smaller fitting in the middle covering the keyhole.
The object was purchased by the museum.
