Part of the collection: Fabrics
Tailcoat in light brown ribbed silk, trimmed with silver braid. The fronts of the tailcoat are rounded, coming towards each other, not buttoned despite eleven buttons sewn on the right front (on the braid). Imitation of eleven holes on left braid. Very decorative buttons. Flat, fabric-covered, embroidered with purl and sequins. The back of the tailcoat is fitted with three vertical darts, which are slit from the bottom to the hip line. The tailcoat halves are rather narrow, folded at the back and fastened with two buttons. Collar stitched through the centre with sharp corners. Long, narrow sleeves with two seams. Detachable cuff with two smaller buttons. On the hip line, deep side slit pockets. The tailcoat is decorated with silver braid. This strip was applied to the collar, front edges, cuffs and pocket flaps. The whole tailcoat, including sleeves, is lined with white silk. Collar and pockets from the inside are lined in grey linen. Made in Poland, dated to the 18th/19th century.
