Part of the collection: Metals
A tool for trimming cigar ends, in the form of a decorative trinket for a desk or table in the office. It is a pear-shaped tool made of brass sheet, soldered segments, with an internal, spring-loaded guillotine mechanism. The belly of the base and the movable head of the button are profiled, decorated with boning and punching in the motif of a rosette composed of cabochons, in a stylized arrangement in the style of an antique cymatium. There is a wide ornamental stripe around the circumference of the belly. The base is flat. The neck is tall, cylindrical, with a wider pedestal and a pair of holes above it to insert the tip of the cigar. It is covered with natural patina.
