Part of the collection: Craft and industry products of Szczecin
The presented sign created by Atelier Leroi from Neu-Isenburg in Hessen, was an advertisement for one of the first big breweries in Szczecin – Bohrisch Brauerei A.G., founded in 1848 at Pommerensdorferstrasse 16 (currently Chmielewskiego Street). The production of such signs began in the 1920s after the merger of Bohrisch Brauerei A.G. with Ferdinand Rückforth Nachfolger A.G. This enabled the expansion of the plant, as well as a much wider promotion of the Bohrisch brand – it included advertisements in the local press, as well as signs with the name and logo of the company. By request of the Association of Visually Disabled Veterans, the sign had three convex rings that could be felt under the fingers, which was particularly important for blinded war veterans. The advertising signs were then offered to restaurateurs, innkeepers and shop owners who were interested in selling beer. Thanks to these efforts, the signs soon became popular not only in Szczecin, but also throughout Germany, advertising companies.
