Part of the collection: Clocks
Empire standing clock, made of wood with bronze decorations. The plinth is in the shape of a three-door cabinet supported by six bronze baluster legs. The pedestal is decorated with three bronze plaques, the two outer ones with medallions depicting bearded men, while the central one, in the shape of an oval, features two roosters separated by a vase – the symbol of the vigilant and brave birds which, after all, served as a clock and a barometer for people in ancient times. The case of the clock has the outline of a stylised vase with S-shaped lugs. Moreover, the finial is finished with a bronze floral ornament, in which the symbol of a bird and palmettes are inscribed. The round and white enamelled dial features black Roman numerals showing hours, minutes and quarters. A rectangular mirror is incorporated under the dial.
