Clock

Part of the collection: Clocks

Popularization note

The presented clock has a cabinet case with mahogany veneer. It is set on four legs with zoomorphic features. At the top of the cabinet is a vase (crater) finished with a lit torch motif. The front wall of the two-tiered base is decorated with an openwork ornament with a motif of two griffins - mythological animals depicted with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle - supported by the vase and surrounded by floral vines. The clock's white enamel dial is round and glazed with the inscription JOSEPH KOLB A LAXENBURG. The two hands for indicating hours and minutes are openwork. The third hand indicates the days of the month. On the dial are black Arabic numerals. Around the dial is a metal Empire-style ornament. The presented clock was purchased for the collection by the Museum-Castle in Łańcut; it is currently located in the Red Corridor on the first floor.
