Castle Museum in Łańcut
Part of the collection: Furniture and interior furnishings
This item, purchased by Izabela Lubomirska, has been standing in the ground floor apartment, located in the northeastern corner of the Łańcut castle, since the beginning of the 19th century to this day. The appearance of Princess Marshal's suite - called the Turkish Apartment in the 19th century - was described by the Lviv art historian Józef Piotrowski: "The entire design, including the characteristically English mahogany platform by the window, is a near-exact copy of the 18th/19th-century interiors of English houses, manors, and palaces. Surrounded by an openwork balustrade, the platform serves as a base for the chaise longue (see S.435MŁ). Teresa Bagińska-Żurawska https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9243-3967
