From 4 to 11 June 1939 "Lublin, Zamość and Lublin Region Days" took place to promote the tourist values of the region. On this occasion many cultural and sporting events took place. One of them was a tennis tournament played on the courts of "Unia" Military Sports Club in Lublin.
A dozen or so days later, on 25 June 1939, a rematch between the Zamość Tennis Club and WKS "Unia" was organised in the town on the Bystrzyca River. The match was hosted by the Tennis Section of the oldest sports club in Lublin, which after many years changed its name to "Lublinianka" and has kept it until today.
The rematch was announced by a placard made in the Pietrzykowski printing house at 4 Kościuszki Street in Lublin, which had released prints a month earlier as part of the "Lublin Days" celebrations. The organisers invited people to come to the event at 9.00 a.m., informing them that tickets for the stands cost 99 groszy. There were discounts for young people, who could buy a ticket for 30 cents.
Since the 1920s, clubs representing both cities have promoted the development of tennis, which was initially regarded as a recreational sport, with time becoming one of the sports competitions. Between 1917 and 1921 designs were drawn up for tennis courts in Zamość. "Unia" had adequate sports facilities, located in the centre of the town centre.
