A collar necklace

The bronze collar neck-ring was a part of the hoard that also contained another neck-ring, two sickles, two spiral anklets and a pendant. This deposit was discovered by an accident in a peat bog during trenching in 1900. This particularly remarkable object with decorations in the form of two rows of spiral designs and a double rib with indentations and punctures is classified as the Mecklenburg type, imported from the populations of the Nordic Bronze Age (occupying the area of northern Germany, Denmark and southern part of the Scandinavian Peninsula), and can be dated to the Middle Bronze Age (ca. 1300-1200 BC). In this time, the neck-rings hidden in hoards are a rarity, and if they appear, they belong to the same type. The occurrence of the bronze neck-rings in the hoards found on the territory of Poland varies significantly, depending on the time period. They appear in the findings from the Early Bronze Age, in a in fairly large numbers at once. Later, the intensity of their occurrence decreases until in some areas they become exceptions or disappear completely.
