Popularization note

A pair of women’s shallow slippers in white satin on a low French heel, covered with the same material. Profiled heel, wide at the base, tapering in the middle and widening again at the end. Thin leather soles in natural colour. Slippers with strongly elongated toes. Edges finished with white ribbon. In the front, at the toes, a sewn-on elastic band and a decoration of gauze, fastened with a small brooch in the shape of a horizontal number ‘8’ made of small polished beads. White linen lining at the toes. Made by LAGER-MEIER in France, 19th/20th century.
