Castle Museum in Łańcut
Part of the collection: Vehicles and harnesses
Horseback bellsL, 19th/20th century Among the acquisitions made by the Castle Museum in Łańcut, presented mainly in the castle stable buildings, there are sets and parts of harnesses purchased by the Museum, which thus created an interesting collection of late 19th and early 20th century harnesses used mainly in court carriages. Among them, the Museum has an interesting collection of harness bells. There are two types of winter harness bells in the collection of the Castle Museum: horseback bells fastened to the horseback mounting at the harness or to their own harness, as well as neck bells. The bell in question is a single horseback bell, consisting of a spherical bell with large, flat, openwork rosette superimposed on it, with beaters surmounted by the figure of two eagles. The base of the bell is flaring, with a rod underneath supported by a low brass bail base fixed to the horseback mounting with two screws. Yellow horseback mounting made of leather on a quilted cushion with a superimposed sultry belt with leather buckle straps at the end. Aldona Cholewianka-Kruszyńska
