Jug A small wine jug made of lead glass and silver from the Potocki collection, a Vienna product from ca. 1915. The body of the jug is made of lead glass, with crosswise notches. The mouth, the cover and the handle are made of silver. The cover is in the semi-circular shape, with a lever used to lift it with a finger, in the centre decorated with the RP monogram under a five-prong crown and five feathers. The monogram and the crown indicate that it was owned by Roman Potocki, third Łańcut ordynat. Maker’s marks were placed on the lid. The handle of the jug in the shape of letter C is thicker at the mouth. Wine jugs made of glass and silver (framed in silver) became fashionable in the middle of the 19th century. The frames made of silver were often richly decorated, while the body was embellished with cut or etched ornaments. There are also jugs made entirely of silver, yet they were less popular as they did not allow for seeing the colour of the wine.
