Serving dish with a lid from a dinnerware set with a pattern of vines The serving dish is part of a dinnerware set made in a porcelain factory in Vienna. The factory was established in 1718 as the second porcelain factory in Europe, after Meissen. It operated until 1864. Breakfast- and dinnerware, as well as coffee, tea, and hot chocolate sets, were the fundamental part of the Viennese factory's production, especially since the fourth quarter of the 18th c. The dinnerware set, part of which was purchased by the Łańcut Museum, was made during the period when the Vienna factory was headed by Mathias Niedermayer (1805-1827). The purchased part of the set consists of nineteen pieces: six semi-deep plates, small vases, two round serving dishes with lids, two square serving dishes, a boat-shaped serving dish, two oval platters, a round bowl, two insert plates. It is a set in the classicist style. It is decorated with a trail of light- and dark-green vine leaves brightened with yellow and with a scattering of such individual leaves. The above serving dish is round, slightly widening at the top, with two volute-shaped handles. Tent-shaped lid with a handle in the form of a pinecone. The serving dish is decorated with a trail of vine leaves and below, with a scattering of such leaves and twigs enclosed in two gilded bands. The upper edge of the dish and the edges of the handles are emphasised with gilded stripes. Barbara Trojnar
