Cinema poster for `Dybuk`

The "Corso" cinema was located in Lublin at 3 Radziwiłłowska Street. In 1911, a rotunda was built in this place, which was transformed into the "Oaza" cinema a year later. After World War I, the cinema was expanded and the number of seats was increased to 1,000. The interior of the building was characterised by elegant furnishings. The walls were decorated with folk-style paintings, which were replaced with mirrors in the 1930s. During World War II, the building was taken over by the Nazis, who screened propaganda films there. In 1944, during the fights for Lublin, the cinema was destroyed.

In the interwar period, it was one of the most popular cinemas in the city. It screened a wide repertoire of Polish and foreign films with well-known actors. The inhabitants of Lublin could learn about current screenings from cinema posters, which informed them about the title and date of the performance.

The Film Dybuk [The Dybbuk] was made by director Michał Waszyński in 1937, based on a drama of the same title by Szymon Anski. The touching melodrama, based on a love story, was very popular.

The poster said that tickets could be purchased from 25 groszy. The price depended on the audience's seat. The cinema had three categories of seats, the best ones had chairs upholstered with soft material.
