Part of the collection: Vehicles and harnesses
Glasslandauer is a vehicle designed for travels, for a two-horse or four-horse team in a harness, manufactured by the company Wilhelm Seidel jun., Waldenburg. Purchased by the Castle Museum in Łańcut for the Museum Vehicle Collection, it underwent a thorough renovation by the renowned company of the Bogajewicz family located in Pniewy Szamotulskie, which existed between 1890 and 2015. Glasslandauer is a variety of landau (the literal translation of the German gives “glazed landau”) – a carriage for four people with two analogous seats located vis-à-vis, above which there are leather folding hoods on frames, which can be opened and connected at the upper edges, which, combined with lifting the door panes on the straps, creates a closed interior. Instead of the front convertible roof, Glasslandauer has a glazed section consisting of side and front windows. Interestingly, this front glazed section is also folding – so the glasslandauer can have a closed interior – which was used in the case of low temperature or rain - as well as be an open carriage designed for shorter routes. The Glasslandauer kept in Łańcut was decorate with green interior upholstery based on the original design – the exterior is also lacquered in this colour – and the initials GB are repainted on the doors. In addition to the door handles characteristic for their line at the vertical trim inspired by Art Nouveau , it has handles that make it easier to get into the vehicle. Aldona Cholewianka-Kruszyńska
