Engraved glass with a foreign coat of arms

Glass The glass was made in a Silesian or Czech glassworks in 1709. It is made of thick glass, conical, with fluted decoration. On the front of the glass is the two-headed eagle of the German Empire with a coat of arms on its breast, with a sword in its left claw, a sceptre in its right. Above the eagle’s head is the imperial crown, on the sides an inscription: VIV/ AT. At the back is a four-field escutcheon (coat of arms unrecognised) framed by S-shaped plant branches, surmounted by a helmet with wings. Below the shield is the date 1709. The whole is framed by palm branches. Above the shield are the initials IP/ W. The rim of the glass at the spout and its lower part accentuated with an engraved edge ornament.
