Teapot from the Konzerthaus Stettin tableware

Popularization note

An item found in one of the catering establishments housed in the pre-war Konzerthaus (Concert House) building in Szczecin, erected in 1884 to a design by the Berlin architect Franz Schwechten. The venue hosted, in addition to regular concerts, dance lessons, family celebrations, national and international congresses, lectures, and scientific sessions. The building also housed a prestigious dining complex (Konzerthaus Stettin) run by Oscar Burchl, featuring a restaurant, wine bar, Viennese café, and pastry shop. Visitors to the restaurants could listen to concerts and watch performances by famous artists, whereas the halls were rented to accommodate various celebrations. The complex had a large garden at the back, where tables were set up during the summer season and where guests were regularly entertained by musicians. The restaurant was renowned for its excellent cuisine and elegant décor and furnishings, which included a set of crockery featuring a logo inscribed on each item. One such item was a teapot, ordered from the well-known pre-war Sächsische Metallwaren Fabrik Aug. Wellner Söhne A. G., one of the largest German manufacturers of cutlery and tableware in the hotel and catering industry. The company's products were known worldwide for their high quality and fine style.
