The Museum of Gdańsk tells the story of the city from the Middle Ages to modern times. It was founded in 1970, and its main building is the Main Town Hall, which was once the seat of Gdańsk’s city authorities. The museum collects documents and historical objects related to the city’s past. The Museum is made up of several branches, including the Amber Museum, the Artus Court, and the Wisłoujście Fortress. About 400,000 people visit the museum each year. Its collection includes nearly 39,000 objects.
