Part of the collection: Photographs from the collection of Halina Kamińska (Mamelok) née Baruch
Photograph of ten people sitting and standing at a table with documents and stamps, among them Halina née Baruch (in the middle, with a dark bow on a white shirt). Description on the reverse, in her handwriting: 'Probably | Commission for Univ. Education | at the School Faculty |of the city of Łódź in 1918 (1919?) | Students of the Estkowski school | helped draw up the listing | school-age children'.In the comment to this photograph, when she donated it to the museum collection, Agnieszka Wróblewska emphasised the social sensitivity of Halina née Baruch (Kamińska) who, paradoxically, professed socialist views: 'When she lived in the villa in Zawiercie as a terribly bourgeois woman, the director's wife, and Magda [their daughter] was an only child, she'd take children from the neighbourhood – steel workers', labourers' kids – she'd wash and dress them, and they'd play with Magda in the garden. That was partially done in order to get other children to play with Magda, but she'd also bring those children from the neighbourhood so that they could play together and certainly to have lunch too'.
