Description:
The room is located in the northern wing on the second floor of the castle. The room in the shape of an elongated rectangle can be entered through a double-leaf door from the northern corridor and a square vestibule, from which you can also enter bedroom 59. The room is accessed directly through a single-leaf, painted panel door. In the northern wall there is a double-leaf square window with a segmental arch at the top, with a wooden fence. The walls are separated from the ceiling by a concave ceiling crown moulding with a profiled cornice. In the north-west corner there is a two-storey masonry stove with a profiled cornice and brass door. The walls are covered with wallpaper printed on type-paper with a red, repeating motif of stylized pattern of flowers and parrots. The wallpaper comes from the beginning of the 20th century and was put on the walls during the great renovation carried out during the time when the castle belonged to Roman and Elżbieta Potocki. It is dated back to 1911. During the most recent renovation (2015), the remains of other earlier wallpapers were discovered under the wallpaper. At the end of the 18th century, the room was a part of a suite known as the Gabard’s Suite (after the French emigrant who occupied it) and served as a study room. In the mid-nineteenth century, the room was a part of the Younger Couple's Suite. After the Second World War, the room served as a storage for the graphics from the Museum's collection. After the conservation works which were carried out in 2014-2016, the room was turned into a permanent museum exhibition.
