The scene of collective lament of several dozen figures gathered in an isokephalic arrangement over the corpses of the dead – shown from different perspectives, on different planes, in expressive lighting. This representation of the bodies of the dead and the individual gestures of the hands of two of the standing men, raised upwards, dynamise the static multiform composition, framed at the top by the arcades of a bridge (railway bridge?) or another structure.
