Service vase (with the coat of arms of the Lubomirski)

Part of the collection: Ceramics

Popularization note

A service vase with the Lubomirski with the coat of arms of Szreniawa A vase from a dinner service in classicist style made in a porcelain manufactory in Vienna around 1806-1807. Established in 1718 as the second (after Meissen) porcelain manufactory in Europe, it functioned until 1864. Dinner, breakfast, tea, coffee and chocolate services constituted an essential part of the production of the Vienna porcelain manufactory, especially from the 4th quarter of the 18th century. The afore-mentioned vase is semi-circular, on an oval foot, with broken top handles ending in leaves at the top and a tented lid with a cone-shaped handle. Thee vase is decorated with gilded stripe on the rims and handless, which turn into decorative flames at the base of the body and stem. On both sides of the body and the lid, there is a painted Lubomirski Szreniawa coat of arms with a Maltese cross. The vase was bought by the Museum in Łańcut in 1968 from Roman Potocki, the son of Roman, grandson of Józef Potocki (1862-1922), who was the brother of Roman Potocki (1851-1915), the owner of Łańcut Castle. At the bottom of the vase, there is a monogram HL in black paint. The service, to which the vase is a part, probably belonged to Henryk Lubomirski (1777-1850), the disciple of Princess Izabela Lubomirska (1736-1816), the owner of the Łańcut Castle. Henryk Lubomirski was a Knight of Malta from 1796. Barbara Trojnar
