Part of the collection: Memorabilia of Emilia Leibel née Grossbart
A monochrome portrait photography, full-face. It is the cabinet photograph. Emilia Grossbart is wearing a dark hat and a long dark coat with a fur collar; she hid her hands in a fur muff. Photograph from December 1932, taken shortly after her engagement to Julius Leibel.
On the obverse of the photograph in the lower right corner is a dedication, written diagonally: Miśka Julkowi (From Miśka to Julek), on the reverse diagonally in the corner: In December 1932. Photograph with serrated edges, three corners torn off, and in the case of the upper left corner a large part of the adjacent edges are also torn off.
This photograph, as Emilia of the Grossbarts recalled, Julius Leibel always carried in his wallet. When Emilia and Juliusz were engaged to be married, they stopped at a photographer's shop during a walk and the future husband noticed that he did not have a photograph of his beloved.
The Leibel wedding was traditional, but the couple went on a honeymoon via Vienna to Italy.
Until the outbreak of the war, Juliusz and Emilia Leibel led a good life in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska.
