Prescription

A prescription issued in 1930 by Doctor Jan Jedliński (1890-1948) – a gynaecologist and a graduate of medicine from the Jan Kazimierz University in Lviv, who served as a district and railway physician in Łańcut, and during World War II he collaborated with the Home Army as a doctor. Dr Jedliński ran his practice in a private villa on Mickiewicza Street, built by S. Rogowski and J.F. Witkowski in 1934. Moreover, as a friend of the Potocki family, he also played the role of their chief physician. He also made a name for himself in Łańcut as a social activist – member of the City Council and the Gwiazda Burghers’ Association. During World War I, he fought as a hussar in the Austrian army,and during World War II he was an activist of the Home Army. The prescription he issued was filled at the Pod Białym Orłem pharmacy , which was then owned by Władysław Borkowski and in the interwar period was one of three pharmacies operating in the city. It was located in the historic building of the Clerks' Casino, erected in the late 19th century by the Potocki family for the local Casino Society. It occupied three rooms on the ground floor and had a separate entrance on the west. It was active until the 1950s. Joanna Kluz
