Krakow Carriage

Part of the collection: Pojazdy i uprzęże

Popularization note

Kraków carriage produced in the Lesser Poland region before the First World War. Neither its manufacturer nor the place where it was used is known. It comes from a collection of nearly 100 horse-drawn vehicles gathered by the museum in Łańcut and constantly enriched. It includes vehicles of different kind, from presentable to rustic, from 18th to 20th century. They come primarily from museum purchases; only a few were donated. Most of them have undergone general conservation or restoration, already when belonging to the museum’s collection. The Kraków carriage has undergone conservative renovation in the museum in Łańcut. The Kraków carriage for one horse or a two-horse team has a full, box body, with a skeleton construction filled with wooden tiles, with two double seats in the form of upholstered benches. Front seat with side backrests made of bent bars, rear seat with side backrests made of bars and carriage backrest. Wooden parts two-coloured – body frame in ash colour, walnut-coloured tiles, painted with clear varnish, metal parts in black. Aldona Cholewianka-Kruszyńska
