Pocket watch

Swiss pocket watch and chain with a case. On the silver-plated dial, there are Roman numerals placed in round engraved borders. It has two black hands. The clockwork was set in a golden, glass-fitted casing. Watch crown spring winder with a loop for the chain placed on the edge of the watch. On the back of the casing, the initials B.C. were engraved in an oval. A radial ornament was placed above. The casing is connected to a metal chain, on which the initials B.C. are repeated. A blue velour case with a drawstring at the top has also been preserved. The watch belonged to the Polish painter Bolesław Jan Czedekowski (1885-1969) who lived most of his life outside the country (France, Austria, United States). He was primarily known as a portraitist. He also painted flowers and landscapes. During the interwar period, he painted portraits of the aristocratic elites, clergy, politicians, and industrialists of the time. He also painted portraits of the Potocki counts from Łańcut. The largest collection of Bolesław Jan Czedekowski's works in Poland is currently owned by the Museum-Castle in Łańcut as a result of a 2001 donation made by the painter’s widow, Herthy Czedekowski.
